艾敏(Tracey Emin)、李昢(Lee Bul)、徐道獲(Do Ho Suh)、劉韡(Liu Wei)等。

Lehmann Maupin: A Diverse Discourse that Challenges Visual Senses
By Yang Wan-Ju
Lehmann Maupin was founded by Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin in New York City in 1996. The gallery is dedicated to promoting works that are pioneering, diverse in style and form, introducing prominent artists through solo exhibitions in New York, such as Tracy Emin, Lee Bul, Do Ho Suh, Liu Wei, and others. Lehmann Maupin has had great success in the Asian market in the past years – they opened their first overseas branch in Hong Kong in 2013 and opened another space in Seoul in 2017 to connect the art scene across cities in Asia in an effort to explore ground-breaking and pioneering visual expressions and connect with artists.
Lehmann Maupin presents works by three Korean artists Lee Bul, Suh Se Ok, Do Ho Suh, and Austrian sculptor Erwin Wurm at Taipei Dangdai, giving the audience a glimpse into how artists utilize creative media to the best of their potential with thoroughly distinct artistic perspectives.
Lee Bul is adept at using propositions of outer space, bioengineering in her works; she creates deformed or maimed forms to imply human's overzealousness in pursuing technological progress and predictions about the future – this portrayal of another dimension encourages self-reflection and an exploration into humanity. Suh Se Ok incorporates traditional ink into an innovative abstract composition. The People series first began in the 1960s, it uses the simplistic human imagery to signify the changes and associations within society. His son Do Ho Suh is concerned with the themes of architecture and household objects, erecting translucent structures using polyester fabric to conjure up faint memories of family and space. Renowned for his Fat Sculpture and One Minute Sculptures, Wurm possesses a wicked sense of humor and expression. Through challenging sculptural concepts and the parameters of form, he encourages people to further reflect upon our current cultures of aesthetics and consumerism.
