Yosuke Takasaki
Born in Osaka in 1987, he graduated from the sculpture group of Kanazawa University of Art and Technology in 2012, and is currently based in Kyoto. To me, the image of a Buddha, which integrates “sacred things” and “worldly things” into one, is like a gesture of people coexisting and surviving with many contradictions. The corners of the smiling mouth, the slender fingertips, and the soft and indulgent body feel, to emphasize the “gorgeous” parts of these shapes, to express the duality of the sacred and the profane in the Buddha statues, is the theme of my exhibition of this series of works.
